Ok, let's see if I can get back on schedule, 'eh? :) It's Wednesday which means it's time for you to recommend books to me. What are you reading now? What am I missing out on? Tell me what you want to see on the blog.
Have a great Wednesday readers!
My name is Heather M. Riley and I became a blogger because I'm obsessed with books. I read all genres, but I have a special love for Young Adult novels. Come and obsess with me as I discuss YA titles new and old through reviews, interviews, features, and the occasional giveaway.

from the publisher's site:
Ever since she was child, Jem has kept a secret: Whenever she meets someone new, no matter who, as soon as she looks into their eyes, a number pops into her head. That number is a date: the date they will die. Burdened with such awful awareness, Jem avoids relationships. Until she meets Spider, another outsider, and takes a chance. The two plan a trip to the city. But while waiting to ride the Eye ferris wheel, Jem is terrified to see that all the other tourists in line flash the same number. Today's number. Today's date. Terrorists are going to attack London. Jem's world is about to explode!
why it caught my eye:
Numbers is another book that I first read about in Publisher's Weekly. I'm really curious about this one. I'm intrigued as to what knowing people's death dates does to a person. Rachel Ward's Numbers is definitely on my wishlist and I can't wait to check it out.

Review: Eleventh Grade Burns by Heather Brewer

from the author's site:
Things have taken a darker turn for the half-human teenager with an appetite for blood. Joss, a vampire slayer and Vlad’s former friend, has moved back to Bathory. A mysterious and powerful new vampire, Dorian, appears with a shocking secret and an overwhelming desire to drink Vlad’s blood. And Vlad’s arch enemy, D’Ablo, has a sinister plan to eliminate Vlad once and for all. With death threatening from every angle, Vlad will have to use every ounce of his skill and training to survive, but nothing can prepare him for what awaits him in the end.
my thoughts:
Can Heather get any better? Well, probably, there's one more book yet. I've been a huge fan of the Vladimir Tod series since the first book came out and none of the books have disappointed me. With each new book Vlad gets better and the action gets more intense. As with every other Vladimir Tod story I flew through the pages because I didn't want to walk away from Bathory and the world Heather Brewer has created.
What really gets to me is the depth of the characters; the vampires may be the focus of the story but they aren't purely good, and the slayers are the "enemies" but at least one isn't purely bad. They are all people living their lives the best way they can. In Eleventh Grade Burns we see a new side of everyone, Vlad, Joss, Otis. Everyone continues to grow and change, which should happen in any good story.
I'm both excited for the release of Twelfth Grade Kills and sad to see it get here because I know that's the end of the Chronicles of Vladimir Tod. I'm anxious to see it arrive, (and once you finish Eleventh Grade Burns you'll know why) and sad to see Vlad go. The good news is that I own all of the books so I can revisit Vlad over and over again, and I'm definitely looking forward to doing exactly that.

book overview:
Nina was beautiful, wild, and adored by her younger sister, Ellie. But, one day, Nina disappeared. Two years later, everyone has given up home that Nina will return, but Ellie knows her sister is out there. If only Ellie had a clue where to look. Then she gets one, in the form of a mysterious drawing. Determined to find Nina, Ellie takes off on a crazy, sexy, cross-country road trip with the only person who believes she’s got a chance—her hot, adventurous new crush. Along the way, Ellie finds a few things she wasn’t planning on. Like love. Lies. And the most shocking thing of all: the truth.
my thoughts:
Wherever Nina Lies is an emotional journey. Lynn Weingarten has written a compelling tale, and once I started it, I didn't want to put it down until I was done. Ellie's unwavering love and belief in her sister are amazing and something we can all hope for in our family. I was so touched by Ellie and Nina that I just wanted to grab my little sister and hug her close.
If you want a story that will tug at your heartstrings and keep you turning the pages, Wherever Nina Lies is the book for you. I highly recommend that you read this one today.

Samantha Kingston has it all: the world’s most crush-worthy boyfriend, three amazing best friends, and first pick of everything at Thomas Jefferson High—from the best table in the cafeteria to the choicest parking spot. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life.
Instead, it turns out to be her last. Then she gets a second chance. Seven chances, in fact. Reliving her last day during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.
why it caught my eye:
This book was recommended to me a while back when I asked readers on the blog what books they were looking forward to. I'm very intrigued by the Lauren Oliver's story. I know we've already gotten Before I Fall in at work so I'm going to need to pick this one up soon.
