You Recommend - Book Edition

Ok, so yeah typically my "You Recommend" posts are geared towards books, but oh well. Sorry I haven't been here much this week. Once again I didn't have an interview for this past Monday, though I do have two of them for the next two Mondays. :) Yay!

It's never too late to get in on the interview love. :) If you're a YA author and you're interested just send an email to wantmyya at gmail dot com.

Now on to today's post: What have you read recently that you recommend? I'll even let you venture out of YA for this one. :)

If you want something touching, sad, and life affirming, read If I Stay by Gayle Forman!

Thanks Lenore. You know I've been wondering about that one. It seems like all of the sudden I've been hearing about it all over the place. I took a peak at it tonight when I was shelving at work. I'm gonna have to read it. :)

Yes! An EW reviewer says it is fluff compared to Twilight, but that just proves she didn't read the book.

I have a book suggestion that some of you may not have heard of.
MOLOKA'I by Alan Brennert

A very moving story of a young girl growing up in a leper colony in Hawaii. Although sad at times. the author avoids turning this novel into a ten-hanky tearjerker, focusing instead on the lives the patients create for themselves and on their attempts at normalcy.

It was well written and a topic I didn't know much about.

Thanks Shelley! I recognize the title cuz I've seen it at work, but I hadn't really given it much of a look. I'll have to take a better look at it when I get a chance. :)
